BREAKING: Texas Deputy Murdered During Traffic Stop

 

A Panola County Sheriff's Office deputy was murdered in the line of duty early Tuesday morning.

Panola County, TX - A Panola County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) deputy was fatally shot in the line of duty during a traffic stop early Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred just outside of Carthage off of Farm-to-Market Road 10 at approximately 2 a.m., KYTX reported.

The gunman fled the scene, leading police on a high-speed chase for approximately one hour.

The unnamed suspect was apprehended after he crashed on Highway 3132 near the West 70th Street exit in Shreveport, KYTX reported.

A K-9 unit was deployed to subdue the suspect prior to his arrest, according to KGAS.

The Texas Rangers and over two dozen law enforcement units are currently working on the scene, KYTX reported.

Police are withholding the officer's name until his family members have been notified of his murder.

The fallen officer, an eight-year veteran-of-the-force, leaves behind a wife and two small children, according to KSLA.
