Multiple agencies were on the scene of a reported officer involved shooting in Richland Wednesday afternoon.
The City of Richland released the following statement Thursday regarding the incident:
"At approximately 2 p.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 20, a Richland police officer responded to a report of suspicious persons at a residence. Contact was made with two male suspects. An altercation ensued that ended with shots being fired and one of the male suspects being struck in the hand. The two male suspects fled the scene in a vehicle which was involved in a crash shortly after leaving the scene. The two suspects were transported to separate hospitals for treatment of injuries with one of the male suspects being detained. The officer also received medical attention for possible injuries.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Texas Rangers and there is no additional information available."
Scanner traffic indicated that a white male in his 30s attempted to evade officers, trying to strike them with a vehicle. Officers fired at the suspect, shooting him in the hand.
According to the scanner, paramedics applied a tourniquet at the scene and PHI Air Medical transported the suspect to an out of area hospital.
