I want to thank our State Representative Byron Cook for all of his assistance with this critical issue of new legislation HB 549. I have received notification today that the Navarro County Justice Center has received the grandfather exemption that we requested from Texas Jail Standards in reference to the new video visitation law effective September 1. It would have cost our taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars in renovation and remodeling costs if we had been forced to comply with this legislation.
