NAVARRO COUNTY, Texas (KWTX) An ex-Central Texas assistant fire chief has been relieved of his duties after being arrested and charged in a state child sex case.
Michael Pitz, 49, is charged with sexual assault of a child and possession of child pornography.
Pitz was arrested Tuesday and booked into the Navarro County Jail.
He remained jailed Friday in lieu of bonds totaling $125,000.
Pitz was the assist fire chief in Richland, however, he was dismissed Thursday, according to Fire Chief Kenneth Guard who is also the mayor of Richland.
“I relieved him of his duties and he is no longer a member of this department,” Guard told KWTX Friday.
Guard had no further comment as the case is still under investigation.
