Restraining Order in Response to Drift Pad

04/05/2024

On March 7, 2024 the Navarro County District Attorney's Office was granted a restraining order in response to drift pad events held on a 10-acre property near NW CR 3010 creating a common nuisance in the western part of the county near Navarro Mills Lake. The drift pad events promoted by Texas House of Power attracted hundreds of people for its events. Since April 2023, the Navarro County Sheriff's Office has responded to 97 calls for service including shots fired, automatic weapon fire, reckless driving on county roads near the location, noise, and assaults. On February 10, 2024, working together with DPS troopers, the Sheriff's Department issued 27 citations and made 16 arrests for charges including: evading arrest, unlawful carrying of weapons, possession of narcotics and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. They also recovered several stolen vehicles, 4 firearms, and a variety of narcotics. Participants at these events have damaged property in the area, left large amounts of trash, and engaged police in numerous vehicle pursuits.
On April 5, 2024, the 13th District Court heard and granted the State's Temporary Injunction prohibiting "burn out" or other commercial events at the property. The Court heard testimony from the Sheriff Tanner, Commissioner Brewer, and a citizen impacted by the events in the area. A number of residents from the area attended the hearing in support of the Temporary Injunction. Violation of this Temporary Injunction could result in a fine of not less than $1,000 or more than $10,000; confinement in jail for a term of not less than 10 days or more than 30 days; or both. We will vigorously prosecute any future violations of this injunction. We are pleased to bring a legal halt to these events that were bringing significant crime to Navarro County and a nuisance to the citizens in that part of the county.
