Thank You to Our Local Volunteer Fire Departments

I would like to say a sincere thank you to the men and women of our local volunteer fire departments.
They have been working tirelessly and diligently, fighting fires over the last week answering calls and doing whatever is necessary in containing fires and ensuring no homes were lost.
We have been under a burn ban for quite a while and there doesn't seem to be any relief in sight due to these extremely dry conditions; add in high winds and we have disasters waiting to happen. Please be careful, use common sense and remember a fire can get out of your control in a matter of seconds.
I would like to ask that you please thank the members of your volunteer fire department. These men and women are invaluable and work tirelessly to keep your land, property, and homes safe from these fires. Drop off some bottled water or Gatorade, ask what they may need in the way of supplies, or make a monetary donation as they run solely on donations.
You might be surprised to know that more than half of the firefighters in America are volunteers. Roughly a third of the US population is protected by mostly or all-volunteer fire departments.
But most importantly, please just let them know they are appreciated. They, like other first responders, are on call 24/7.

Again, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all the Volunteer Firemen that have worked so tirelessly not just these past days, but for all your service in protecting our county.

There's nothing stronger than the heart of a volunteer. Their hearts are not measured in size, but by the depth of their commitment to make a difference in the lives of others.
