UPDATE

Both suspects have been arrested for animal cruelty and are being processed at the Navarro County Justice Center.

The puppy has been treated by a local vet and has been transported to the Corsicana Animal Shelter. The puppy is now available for adoption. Contact Corsicana Animal Shelter 903-654-4929 if you are interested in adopting this puppy.

I want to commend Deputy Charles Paul who observed this puppy being abandoned on NE 0080 today. Deputy Paul detained the two occupants of the vehicle that had just dumped the puppy until Captain Phillips arrived to assist with the investigation. The puppy was retrieved and immediately taken to a local veterinarian for treatment. The suspects are under investigation for cruelty to animals.
